Questions people ask

Isegora takes its name from Greek isegoria, equal right to speak in the public square. You ask any question as polls (with optional pictures). The poll topics can vary from simple everyday considerations to deep or advanced things you are interested in, then people vote anonymously and interactively. Finally people (including you) explore shared results on charts and a world map before comments open.

Creating an account, voting, and creating polls are free. If ads appear later, they are labeled as sponsored and stay separate from poll content. Personalized ads only run where your age and consent allow it.

Yes. You sign in (email or Google / Apple), finish a short profile, and verify your phone once. That keeps voting fair, one active choice per person per poll, while still showing results anonymously.

We need them to keep accounts secure, age-appropriate, and voting fair. A verified email and a verified phone number help stop the same person from creating many accounts to vote more than once on a poll, so results stay clean. Your date of birth is used to check that you are old enough to create an account, and, when you vote, as an anonymous age group for poll statistics (for example 18–24), not your exact age. Your email, phone, and date of birth stay private — they are not shown on your public profile. Results never show which people are in which age group.

Others can see your username, avatar, any short biography you add, when you joined, and your country. They do not see your email, phone, date of birth, or address. Your profile can also show activity tabs, published polls, polls you liked or followed, and your comments, each tab is on by default and you can turn any off on your profile.

Yes. Open Account from the Home menu to edit your username, avatar, biography, gender, date of birth, and phone. If you change your phone number you will need to verify it again with a code.

Yes. In Privacy & ads you can delete your account. You will confirm, choose a reason for leaving, then confirm again. The account is deactivated right away and public content is hidden; remaining data is removed after a retention window. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Tap + on Home, then write a title, question, and two to six answer options. Pick a topic, set how long the poll should run (from one minute up to thirty days; the default is five minutes), and publish. You can add supporting pictures, and you can put a link in the question text when you want to point people to a source.

You may attach one supporting picture per option (from Gallery, files, or the camera), edit them (light, crop, text, emoji, draw), and publish them separately or as one combined picture. Pictures show full width on the poll and as a banner on Home cards. Short video clips are temporarily unavailable in Create and will return in a later update.

You can type #tags in the title, question, or options. They help others find related polls in Search, and tapping a tag opens Search for that tag.

From My Polls you can unpublish a live poll (it leaves Home and Search), republish it later, soft-delete it, or permanently remove it. Soft-deleted polls stay recoverable for a short time. Ending a poll early closes voting and shows results, that is different from unpublishing.

Yes. As the creator you can end early with confirmation. Results then show that the poll ended early, with Created and Ended times.

Yes — completely. Nobody sees a public list of who chose which option; results are only shown as totals and anonymous groups (such as age or place). While a poll is still open, we keep a temporary private code for that poll only so you can change your vote and so each person can vote once. That code is random and different for every poll, and it is never shown to anyone. When the poll ends, we delete the link between your account and your vote. After that, your vote cannot be traced back to you — not by other users, and not by us.

While a poll is still open, you can change your vote to another option. After it ends, the final tally stands. There is no public “undo” after close.

Phone verification helps keep voting fair and reduces spam accounts. You verify once during onboarding; if you later change your number, you verify again.

If you lose connection, the app can keep a recent feed and queue a vote to send when you are back online. You will see an offline notice until things sync.

When a poll has ended (or when you open results for a closed poll), you see vote shares as percentages with counts, plus filters and a world map when geography is available. Open polls show live voting; final public breakdowns appear after the poll ends.

Under section titles such as By option, By country, By gender, and By age you can multi-select values to cross-filter the chart and map. State/region and city sit under By country. Choosing a place can zoom the map to that level.

The map shows where votes came from as a heatmap. You can enlarge it, pinch to zoom, and drill from country to region to city when there are enough votes. Labels show share and count (for example 45% (12)).

If you turn off sharing vote region or city in Privacy & ads, those levels are omitted from aggregates and appear as Unknown. Country on votes is unchanged. Approximate location tips appear next to Region and City filters.

Demo shows realistic demonstration polls and profiles so you can explore the product — they are clearly marked and are not from real people. For you suggests newer polls from real users related to topics and creators you engage with (demo polls stay under Demo). Visited lists real-user polls you opened recently. You can also filter Live or Ended. Trending and Latest will return later.

Basic search matches words across titles, questions, options, hashtags, and usernames. Advanced search adds filters such as topics, language, hashtag, and creator. Multi-word queries match all words.

Like saves a poll to Liked polls and can notify you when it ends. Follow on a poll watches it for results without requiring a like, and followed polls appear under Followed polls. Separately, you can follow a person’s profile to hear when they start a new poll.

Comments open after a poll ends. Keep them short (up to 140 characters). You can tag @username or a place; tagged people can get a push if they allow notifications. Comments show with your username and avatar. You can translate a comment when Manual translation is on and the language differs from your location’s language.

Approximate location helps show results by country and region, the “what do people near me / around the world think?” view. You can control finer region and city sharing in Privacy & ads. We do not turn your vote into a public pin on a personal map.

In Privacy & ads (and the optional prompt after intro) you choose personalized ads, product analytics, push notifications, and follow emails, all off until you allow them. Technical crash monitoring is separate and explained in the Privacy Policy. Vote region/city sharing defaults on and can be turned off there too.

You can report a poll, comment, or profile from the app and pick a category. We also review content against our rules. Reporting helps keep conversations safer for everyone.

Some wording is not allowed under our content rules. If something is blocked, the app names the phrase so you can change it and try again. You can still report published content that you think breaks the rules.

Open Settings → Language. English is listed first, then other languages A–Z. New accounts often start in the official language of your location when we support it; you can override that anytime.

Settings → Translation can be Off or Manual (default Manual). When content is in a different language from your location’s language, tap Translate, nothing translates automatically.

The Home menu has a Night mode switch above Log out. Night (dark) is the default; switch to Day for a light look. Your choice is remembered on this device.

Yes — turn on Settings → Swipe actions on poll cards. It is off by default. Then swipe a card left to reveal Follow, Like, and Share. On iPhone, swipe right still goes back. Desktop browsers keep tap buttons only.

On iPhone and Android, swipe left or right on Home to move between Demo, For you, Visited, and Search. Swipe right on Demo opens Create a poll (the + button still works). Desktop browsers keep tap tabs and the Create rail. This is not a full-screen vertical poll pager.
